Christmas Dessert Recipes

Hi! Christmas is just two days away and for all of you who have been thinking of ideas for great tasting desserts to share with the rest of your family, here's some mouthwatering recipes that you should consider. Enjoy!

1.) Davontae's Cheesecake

An extra special dessert--creamy cheesecake with a graham cracker crust and a strawberry glaze on top.

Ingredients
Crust:
1 1/2 cups graham cracker crumbs
2 Tbsp sugar
3 Tbsp margarine or butter; melted

Filling:
19 oz cream cheese; softened
1 cup sugar
2 tsp lemon peel; grated
1/4 tsp vanilla
3 eggs
Glaze:
1 cup strawberries; mashed
1 cup sugar
3 Tbsp cornstarch
1/3 cup water

Method

Pre-heat oven to 350 degrees. CRUST: Stir together graham cracker crumbs and sugar. Add butter and mix thoroughly. Press into a 9" springform pan. Bake 10 minutes and cool. Reduce oven temperature to 300 degreees. FILLING: Beat cream cheese in a large mixing bowl. Gradually add sugar, beating until fluffy. Add lemon peel and vanilla, mix. Beat in eggs one at a time until thoroughly incorporated. Pour mixture into shell. Bake 1 hour or until center is firm. Cool to room temperature and then spread with the strawberry glaze. Chill 3 hours. GLAZE: Blend sugar and cornstarch together in a small saucepan. Stir in water and strawberries. Cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens and boils. Boil and stir for 1 minute. Cool thoroughly before spreading over cheesecake.

2.) Apple Pie by Grandma Ople










Ingredients

1 recipe pastry for a 9 inch double crust pie
1/2 cup unsalted butter
3 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1/4 cup water
1/2 cup white sugar
1/2 cup packed brown sugar
8 Granny Smith apples - peeled, cored and sliced

Directions

1.Preheat oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Melt the butter in a saucepan. Stir in flour to form a paste. Add water, white sugar and brown sugar, and bring to a boil. Reduce temperature and let simmer.

2.Place the bottom crust in your pan. Fill with apples, mounded slightly. Cover with a lattice work of crust. Gently pour the sugar and butter liquid over the crust. Pour slowly so that it does not run off.

3.Bake 15 minutes in the preheated oven. Reduce the temperature to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Continue baking for 35 to 45 minutes, until apples are soft.

3.) Vanilla Ice Cream













Ingredients
5 egg yolks
2/3 cups sugar
1 cup half and half
2 tablespoons butter
1 cup whipping cream
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

Directions:
Beat yolks and sugar until blended. Pour in top of double boiler. Stir in half and half. Cook and stir over boiling water until thickens. Set aside - stir in butter. While cooling on a rack, stir occasionally until room temperature. Stir in whipping cream and vanilla. Freeze according to manufacturers directions.
