Not many of you realise this, but everyone has used or are using visualization. The difference is that people who realise the importance of using visualization do it consciously to try to achieve certain goals/ambitions. The results of utilizing the powers of creative visualization to improve your lives are amazing, to say the least. People have recovered from illnesses they thought they would never recover from while others have overcome fears and limiting beliefs that have held them back for years! But firstly, what really is visualization? In simple terms, it is imagination. It is just like when you were kids and you close your eyes on your bed on Christmas Eve imaging Santa putting your favourite present in the Christmas stockings.
So, must you really 'see' pictures in your mind when you do visualization? Well, not everyone of us are visual learners so not everyone would be able to vividly 'see' a colourful picture of what we would like to achieve. Most importantly, you have to 'feel' what you are imagining(for example, feel yourself being friendly and getting along well with your co-workers/boss).
But everyone can improve their visualization skills from practice. i shall tell you some steps on how to do this some other time. But right now, I would like to give you some tips on how you could use creative visualization to improve almost any aspect of yor lives, be it your studies, your job, your relationships, your finances etc.
Here are some things to take note of:
1.) Do it regularly
The more visualize, the better. Try to at least spend 5-10 minutes before you go to bed and another 5-10 minutes after waking up to practice your creative visualization.
2.) Be in the scene
Live inside your image – see the world from your eyes and notice your different surroundings, e.g giving a wonderful presentation/getting along well with family and friends, rather than seeing yourself in it from the 3rd person. Again this is powerful as you actually experiencing in a small way what it would feel like to live in this new reality.

3.) Add as much emotion as possible (e.g Make it fun and exciting)
Make your visualization fun and exciting so you stimulate more emotion and make a stronger mental picture and the visualization will be 10x more powerful. For example, if you are trying to overcome a fear of spiders, do not just imagine yourself holding one. 'Feel' how happy and proud you are that you are now able to hold one. 'Feel' yourself being overjoyed that you have overcome this phobia.
4.) End with affirmation (positive statements)
After your 5-10 minute creative visualization exercise, end by saying something that would reinforce your subconscious into making everything work out well for you. You could either say this out loud or just imagine yourself saying it. For example, if you are setting a goal to get along better with your co-workers, after visualizing, say to yourself, 'I feel so happy that I am able to get along well with my colleagues'. It might seem strange or funny at first as most people might not be used to this, but affirmations have a powerful effect on changing one's mindset. Try it!
